Foreclosure Prevention Program

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. will be partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) in sponsoring a program designed to help families facing foreclosure.

DFS specialists will set up a foreclosure prevention center at Marjorie Post Park to speak one-on-one with homeowners facing foreclosure.

As part of the program, DFS specialists will assess where homeowners are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process, and provide them with:

* Information about specific loan modification programs which may be available to them.

* Guidance on how they can file complaints with the Department so that suspected cases of lender or mortgage servicer abuses, such as predatory lending practices, can be investigated.

Homeowners should bring copies of their mortgage documents, loan payment records, letters from their lenders or mortgage servicers, or any other information relevant to their personal situation which could be useful to DFS staff in helping to provide assistance. No appointments are necessary.

For more information about the foreclosure prevention program on March 16th, please call the office at 516-882-0630.
