Hannon Announces Re-Election Bid

State Senator will face former county legislator David Mejias in the fall.

State Senator Kemp Hannon announced Friday that he is running for re-election.

Hannon, who has represented the sixth district since 1989, officially threw his hat in the ring just days after former county legislator David Mejias accepted the Democratic nomination in the race.

Hannon won a closer than expected re-election battle against Kristen McElroy in 2008, winning 52 percent of the vote.
