Hundreds Take Part in Junior Triathlon

Last week's Town of Oyster Bay Junior Triathlon drew hundreds of participants, including the young people pictured in the photo above.

Kids ages ages 8-13 participated in the competition requiring them to bicycle, swim, and run their way through the course. Some of the young athletes participated in a town-sponsored training program that began on June 29 and continued on Saturdays throughout the summer.

Pictured with some of the young participants are Councilman Joseph Pinto, Nassau County Legislator Rose Walker and District Court Judge Rhonda Fischer. Also pictured are race directors Jose Lopez (wearing a visor) and Ray Farrell (wearing a baseball cap).

Town Offers Free 'No Soliciting' Signs

Residents who do not want to be bothered by solicitors and peddlers can post a sign that reads “No Soliciting.” And a free one can be obtained through the Town Clerk's office.

Town Clerk Jim Altadonna's office offers a free, waterproof, vinyl ‘No Soliciting’ sticker for your door or window. Contact his office at 624-6333 or e-mail me through the Town’s website, www.oysterbaytown.com.

The Town Clerk's office oversees the licensing of door-to-door salesmen. Residents should ask a peddler for a current town-issued photo identification badge. If the peddler does not have one, send the person away and call the police immediately with a description, Altadonna said.
