senior has taken a big step towards that goal with the announcement that she's been nominated to attend the United States Naval Academy.
O'Brien was nominated by U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who said a selection committee she formed made the decision based on academic acheivement, leadership potential and overall acheivement.
O'Brien certainly fits the bill, having been a member of the Prinicpal's Honor Roll and a in Lacrosse and Field Hockey.
She's also been active in Students Against Destructive Decisions.
Final acceptance is determined solely by the service academies.
