Kicking Off Beach Season

State officials say Jones Beach and other parks will be ready for Memorial Day. Will you?

We're one week away from the traditional start of the summer season. But the months leading up to Memorial Day have been anything but normal.

State employees have been working through the winter and early spring to get Jones Beach and other state parks ready in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Last month, Governor Cuomo announced the parks will be open.

There will be temporary railings and some areas still undergoing repairs. Another problem for beach-goers may be the weather. It's been a cool spring and the forecast calls for a rainy week.

We want to know if you're planning an outing to Jones Beach or other parks this weekend. Has Sandy influenced your decision? What about the weather?
