Mangano Extends Property Tax Deadlines

Because of Winter Storm Hercules, taxpayers have until Jan. 8 to file.

As the region braces for Winter Storm Hercules, Nassau taxpayers now have until Wednesday, Jan. 8 to file applications for all property tax exemptions for the 2014-15 school and general fund tax year, county officials say.

“Knowing that hundreds of homeowners visit the County Assessment Office at the end of the exemptions filing period and that they may encounter hazardous driving conditions with the upcoming snow storms, in the interest of public safety I am extending the exemptions filing period to next Wednesday,”   County Executive Mangano said, in a statement.

“I urge all qualifying homeowners who have yet to file for a property tax exemption to take advantage of this extension and submit their application before the January 8 deadline,” he added.
