Two brothers who owned a now defunct Massapequa restaurant have been sentenced to three months home confinement in a tax fraud case, officials said.
George and Spiros Kannavos, who owned Dick and Dora's Restaurant on Alhambra Road also received three years probation and will be required to serve 250 hours of community service over a three year period.
The brothers plead guilty last April, in Federal District Court in Central Islip to conspiracy to defraud the United States.
According to court papers. they created two sets of daily register receipts and made false daily reports that understated the restaurant's cash sales.
They filed fraudulent tax returns in 2005 and 2006, IRS officials said.
The brothers will make $170,626 in restitution.
