Oyster Bay Taxpayers Have Limited Time to Challenge Assessments

Grievance period for Nassau County Assessments runs from now through March 1.

Taxpayers in the  have the right to challenge their latest property tax assessment, but only for a limited time.

James J. Stefanich, Oyster Bay's receiver of taxes , said the grievance period runs from Jan. 3 until March 3, 2011. Grievances challenge the assessments for the 2012-2013 tentative assessment rolls, Stefanich said.

“During this period, taxpayers may examine the assessment rolls and obtain assistance at a help desk at the Nassau County Department of Assessment..." Stefanich said.
