Retirement and Rusty Torres

he Town of Oyster Bay lists the former Yankee awaiting trial on child molestation charges as "retired." Should he receive benefits?

On Thursday we received an update on the status of former Yankee Rusty Torres who was charged 13 months ago with molesting an 8-year-old girl on two occasions.
The incidents allegedly occurred when Torres was employed at the Town of Oyster Bay holding baseball clinics for area youths.

The Town told Patch that Torres quietly "retired"  last year. They did not immediately comment on a follow-up question asking whether Torres was receiving benefits as a result of his retirement.

At the same time, Torres' case is still winding its way through the court system.

We want to know what you think. Should someone accused in a molestation case receive retirement benefits while awaiting trial.
