It's strange to wake up Thursday morning and realize that Peter Schmitt is no longer serving as Massapequa's representative in the county legislature.
Schmitt died of a sudden heart attack Wednesday morning. He's been in the Nassau County since it began in 1996.
He's been the Majority leader since 2010 and has served the community in many other capacities.
