State to Offer Hurricane Assistance in Massapequa Monday

DFS van will be at Toys R Us Parking lot.

The New York State Department of Financial Services will be in Massapequa Monday  to help give assistance to victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The DFS is dispatching their Mobile Command Center to the Toys R Us Parking lot at 5520 Sunrise Highway from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m.

The van, which is dispatched to communities that have been disproportionately impacted by Sandy, will be staffed by department members.

They will be available to assist homeowners and business offers with insurance questions and to help them apply for additional recovery aid that was approved by the federal government last week.

The DFS will also be in Freeport Friday at the Freeport Recreation Center, 130 East Merrick Road until 5 p.m. and it will at Cedar Creek Park in Merrick Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
