The Uproar Over King's Speech

Some students and other members of the St. John’s University community don’t like the idea of Rep. Peter King, R-Seaford.  speaking at their graduation.

An online petition asking St. John’s to rescind their invitation has  gathered hundreds of signatures.

The protesters oppose the hearings King held on the extent of radicalization in the Muslim-American community when he served as Chairman of the House Homeland Security committee. They were also critical of comments King made against bilingual education.

King said the group has the right to protest his appearance but called the effort “misguided and wrong.”

We want to know what you think.  Did St. John’s insult the diversity of its community  by inviting King?  Or would revoking the invitation go against the university’s mission to present all points of view?
