Town to Recognize Women of Distinction

Eight honorees to receive award Tuesday.

The Town of Oyster Bay will honor some of the best and brightest women in the area Tuesday.

They will host the 15th annual Women of Distinction Ceremony at Town Hall. Eight women or groups of women will be honored for their outstanding achievements. 

All of the recipients live or work in the town. They are:

  • Susie Gach Peelle of Locust Valley, who will be honored as the Distinguished Woman in the Arts.
  • Danielle Delgrosso of Syosset, honored as the Distinguished Woman in Business.
  • The Massapequa Mom's Group, to be honored as Distinguished Women in Community and Civic Affairs.
  • Joan Weinstein of Syosset's Variety Child Learning Center, honored as the Distinguished Woman in Education.
  •  Rabbi Janise Poticha of Massapequa, honored as the Distinguished Woman in government for her work with various agencies after Hurricane Sandy.
  • Amy Palmiero-Winters of Hicksville, honored as the Distinguished Woman in Health Services.
  • Ellen Kamp of Sea Cliff, honored as Distinguished Woman Humanitarian.
  • Melissa Snider of Massapequa, honored as Distinguished Woman Volunteer.

The Ceremony will be held at Town Hall in Oyster Bay at 7 p.m.  It will take place in celebration of Women's History Month.
