VIDEO: Hearing Grills LIPA on Irene Response

State Sen. Carl Marcellino leads public hearing questioning LIPA and National Grid reps in Mineola.

State Sen. Carl Marcellino, R-Syosset, chaired a special hearing Thursday on the Long Island Power Authority's response to Hurricane Irene, which left some residents without power for up to a week after the storm hit.

The Senate Investigations and Government Operations Committee's hearing in the Theodore Roosevelt Legislative and Executive building in Mineola called on several Nassau officials as well as LIPA and National Grid executives.

The committee took both LIPA and National Grid to task for what it preceved as a poor response to one of the biggest storms to hit Long Island in years.
