Village Board Approves Hiring of Park Attendant

Business signs and snow removal also discussed at board meeting.

The Village of Massapequa Park has approved the hiring of a new Park Attendent.

The appointment of Thomas Daley was unanimously approved by the village board Wednesday, after he'd been serving on a part time basis.

"Tom Daley is a village resident and he has been filling in admirably at this job," Mayor James Altadonna said.

"He's been doing a good job for the village for a number of months now and we'd like to put him on full time.

The appointment was made effective at the beginning of the month.

The Board had a light agenda Wednesday and will meet for the second time in less than a week Monday as the meeting schedule was changed to accommodate Altadonna's upcoming hip surgery.

That surgery came up in the public comment portion of the meeting when resident John O'Brien pointed out that Altadonna often helps out with snow removal and may leave the village shorthanded as winter approaches.

"I think I'll be ready," the mayor said, later adding that he believes he'll be fully healthy by the second week of January.

After the meeting Altadonna said he believes the village is prepared for the snow removal season.

The mayor said he was impressed by the turnout for the village Christmas Tree and Menorah lighting this past Saturday.

"It was amazing, certainly the most people we've seen in the decade we've been here."

The village will also host a holiday open house on Sunday.

The Board also approves new business signs for Joseph's Hair Salon on Merrick Road and Sancho's Cantina and Grill on Park Blvd.
