Weigh in on Youth Service Funding Cut

A political battle has led to the County defunding of YES Community Counseling. Which elected official do you blame?

YES Community Counseling and other social service organizations have said they've been caught in the crossfire of a political battle that's cause them to lose funding from Nassau County.

County Executive Ed Mangano wrote the organizations last month threatening to cut off the funding unless the county legislature voted to pay tax refunds the county owes.

In order to do that, Republicans needed at least three votes from Democrats to create the super-majority required to pass the measure.

That didn't happen and the funding was cut off this week.

Democrats say that the funding can come from other sources such as red light cameras, which once funded social services in the couty.
