Make Sure our Firemen are properly supported, so that they can be properly manned and they can be properly trained.

Having an eqipped amd prepared fire dept is basic common sense. Why dont you do a story of the volunteer fire men more often

Fires will start anywhere. The best defense is a strong fire dept.

this fire bad for Long Island is really nothing, Arizona last year had a few fires running 400,000 acres. the local fire departments need to purchase a few bulldozers to aid in fire suppression. i heard on the scanner when they lost the stump jumper, they were hollering for a bulldozer

Properly equipped too. Manpower alone isn't enough. Did they have enough brush trucks and tankers for this one? We have lots of great volunteers, but do they have enough $ to invest in brush trucks that only get used infrequently. They need enough of them to "outgun" the big fires. Let's make sure that they do.
