Town Councilman Anthony Macagnone announced the Gina Gallardo Bone Marrow, Blood Drive and Fundraiser Against Cancer this week. Gallardo and her mother, Katie, met with Macagnone to help raise awareness for the event and for helping others in need.
Five-year-old Gina Gallardo of Syosset was diagnosed with leukemia at age two. After treatment, Gallardo has been cancer free since July 2011. The fundraiser, which will be held in July in Plainview, will require lots of helping hands, so call (516) 677-0183 to volunteer.
Staycationing Made Easy in TOBAY
As summer swings into action, Town officials are reminding residents that you don't need to go far for fun. TOBAY has put together a simple guide to all the attractions they offer, just a few minutes from home.
"The Town of Oyster Bay has some great places to take your family this summer without traveling far from home or spending a lot of money," said Town Councilwoman Rebecca Alessia.
Whether you're cooking up experiments at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, standing where President Theodore Roosevelt stood as he spoke to suffragettes, or taking a stroll through all the parks and preserves, the Town has made it easy to find something everyone will love to do.
