Berner Middle School Names New Dean

Massapequa resident takes on new role.

The Massapequa school district has named Barbara Lowell as Berner Middle School's new Dean of Students.

Lowell is a longtime Massapequa resident, who went to school in the district and social studies teacher. She's also taken on the role of part-time attendance taker.

“Although many would agree that the job of Dean is about discipline, the role handles many services for students, including lockers, buses and character education programs," she said.  

 "I hope students will feel comfortable enough to come into my office to ask for help or to find answers to their questions as we strive to provide a safe and comfortable educational environment for all.”

Lowell is has bachelors degree in History and Education from Molloy College as well as a masters in education at the school.

She has a masters in school leadership at Touro College. Lowell also serves as Massapequa High Schools Field Hockey coach.
