The fifth grade students at Birch Lane Elementary School in Massapequa attended the second Annual Concert for Children's Hunger Awareness featuring Tom Chapin and Friends.
More than 2,800 school children from 17 Long Island schools attended this concert at NYCB Theatre in Westbury.
Mr. Coyne, a 5th grade teacher at Birch Lane, organized this field trip for the students. The children also donated kid-friendly non-perishable food so, together, they helped support the more than 118,000 children on Long Island who are hungry or food insecure.
