Jordyn Iger named National Merit Finalist

Massapequa HS Senior among 15,000 to compete for prestigious scholarships

She's already been to China, now she's one step away from a trip to college on a scholarship.

Massapequa High School senior Jordyn Iger has been named a National Merit Finalist.

Jordyn is one of 15,000 finalists for the prestigious scholarship that goes to many of the nation's top students.

She earned the honor based on her PSAT scores and her academic record.

Jordyn certainly has had a stellar career at school, participating as a member of the Mock Trial Team and as a writer for the art and literary magazine "Visions."

She plays the violin and has taken several advanced placement courses and has studied Mandarin Chinese in China the past two years.

Jordyn is now in the running for 8,400 Merit Scholarship awards. The three types of scholarships are the $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, corporate sponsored scholarships and college sponsored scholarships.
