Massapequa and the Testing Resolution

The Massapequa Board of Education passed a resolution this month asking the state to reconsider their reliance on testing. Do you think it went far enough.

This month, the Massapequa school board passed a resolution asking the state to reconsider its reliance on testing children.

They joined a chorus of those around Long Island and the state who feel children are being tested too much as a result of the implementation of the Common Core Standards.

But many in attendance at the board meeting where the resolution felt the resolution didn't go to far.

This is because language was included in the resolition stating that the board "is required to comply with New York State Law and regulation, and as such cannot condone test refusal since it agrees that assessment is an integral component of test integrity."

We want to know what you think. Are you happy with the resolution? Or did the language not go far enough?
