Massapequa District Re-Opens All but Two Schools

Birch Lane and Lockhart to remain closed Tuesday. All other schools open. No senior parking at high school.

School bells will be ringing for most students in the Massapequa School District on Tuesday.

The District announced that all schools except for Birch Lane and Lockhart Elementary Schools will re-open Tuesday. 

District officials said bus transportation will be available but there could be delays.There will be no late buses available for the remainder of the week.

Before and after school activities will be canceled for the rest of the week, including elementary music rehearsals, but YMCA child care will be available in all open elementary schools  except Birch Lane and Lockhart.

School staff will report at their normal times, except for Lockhart and Birch Lane staff who will report at 9 a.m. Monitors, permanent subs, and food service staff at Birch Lane will not have to report Tuesday.

There will be no BOCES programs on Tuesday, but Levittown Occupation Ed programs will run and there will be transportation.

There will be some restrictions at the main campus of Massapequa High School Tuesday because of Election Day.

There will be no senior parking and no students should drive to school. Massapequa High School will have a closed campus on Tuesday. Students will not be allowed to leave the building for lunch or open periods. Food service will be available, but students will be encourages to bring their lunch.
