The Massapequa school district spent the last month of 2013 facing uncertainty over their transportation company, but school officials said the change to a new carrier has been smooth.
The district was forced to make the change due to the bankruptcy of Staten Island-based Atlantic Express Company, which ceased operations in December.
The new bus company, Educational Bus Transportation, Inc. took over for one day last week due Friday's weather cancellation.
They started their first full week Monday and Massapequa Deputy Suerintendent Alan Adcock says all has gone well so far.
“The transition to Educational Bus Transportation Inc. was largely seamless and we continue to meet on a regular basis with the new contractor to assure that service remains satisfactory," he said.
