New School Bus Company in Massapequa
Educational Bus. Inc. to take over for bankrupt Atlantic Express.
The Massapequa School District will start the new year with a new school bus company.
They will be served by Educational Bus Service Inc. after the winter break. Transportation had beenprovided by Staten Island-based Atlantic Express Company, which filed for bankruptcy in November.
Atlantic Express will cease operations at the end of the year, but has been allowed to sell their buses by the bankruptcy court, according to the Staten Island Advance.
The Massapequa district announced in a letter to parents that Educational Bus Service will start Jan. 2.
"Educational Bus Transportation Inc. is a long-standing contractor with the Massapequa schools, and we anticipate a seamless transition as they assume operations on affected routes," the letter said.
