A Plainedge Middle School teacher is being honored by his peers.
Michael Vitale was recently voted the Nassau County Middle School Mathematics Teacher of the Year by the Nassau County Mathematics Teachers Association.
Vitale, who has been a teacher in the district for nearly 15 years, will be honored at a dinner and ceremony on May 16.
A district spokeswoman said the award "recognizes Mr. Vitale’s commitment and dedication to his students, his relentless belief that all children can succeed, and his ability to differentiate information for the individual student so that they can master mathematics in their own unique way."
