Restructuring Berner Classes

Berner Middle School in Massapequa is restructuring its classes in September. What do you think of the idea?

It's being touted as a way to give students more scheduling flexibility and increase continuity for students at Berner Middle School.

The school is changing the way classes operate in September by creating what's called a "house structure."

Currently, Berner students are placed on one of the school's six and a half teams and are instructed by a set of teachers assigned to that team.

In September, the teams will be divided into thirds, which would put two teams in each house, giving students two sets of teachers for each core course. Guidance counselors and other staffers will follow the students from grade to grade.
