Searching for the Perfect Write-in Candidate

A former school board member and a current member are looking write-in votes in the Massapequa School Board election. Are you happy with the choice or should other candidates enter the race?

It's one of the most unusual elections the area has ever seen.

The May 21 vote for a seat on Massapequa School Board  will be conducted by write-in votes.

That's because nobody filed nominating petitions in time. Board Vice President Tim Taylor, who holds the seat up for grabs missed the filing deadline by five minutes, according to the district clerk.

Taylor has said that he will accept write-in votes. He was joined in the race this week by former Board president Christine Lupetin Perino who announced her candidacy.

So we have a current and former board member vying for the seat, but others could jump in at any time.  We'd like to know if you're happy with the choice so far.

Would you like a candidate with school board experience or would you like to see new faces in the race? What are your thoughts about the election?
