A smoke condition in the Upper Gym at Massapequa High School caused a disruption and the cancelation of some after school activities Wednesday, officials said.
Firefighters were called to the gym at about 1:50 p.m. by an alarm and they discovered smoke coming from an electrical panel.
The area was evacuated but students were cleared to return in time for dismissal, according to a letter sent to parents.
All after school and evening activities will go on as scheduled at the high school except for extra help and all activity scheduled for the upper gym.
