Helical piles vs. Wood Piles. Our soil has changed!!! Helicals are more expensive; steel usually is. Helicals should be used because of the soil. The guarantee of safety, security and STRENGTH! Remember the amount of WEIGHT the pilings are holding!!! 3. Soil Test. Do you need one? YES! Our soil on the South Shore has changed; shifted. Lots of Sand. Your home needs to stay UP!! Again..stories are happening where the soil was not checked and problems are occurring! 4. Costs. Be sure to obtain costs for the ENTIRE process!!
