With the game in control, Massapequa didn’t let up on the offensive end as Steve Romano, Andrew Tralongo and Shand put in goals in the third quarter. The Chiefs scored three more in the final quarter en route to the 11-goal margin of victory.

Heroes: Joe Danaher made a pair of big saves early in the first quarter to set the tone. The Massapequa goalie finished the game with 11 saves.   “Our guys did a good job of getting the ball off of the carpet and sticking their noses because ground balls win games,” Danaher said. “We did a good job on the crease watching cutters and checking their sticks today.”

Turning Point: With a solid start in the first quarter, Massapequa kept the pressure on as Sheehan put in a goal just seven seconds into the second.

Quotable: “Our kids played really hard in the first half. We came out and our attack was moving it really well and finished shots. It was a total team effort with Joe Danaher making saves and defense playing well,” Massapequa head coach Tim Radomski said. “We had all different guys score and it is good to spread the ball around so they can’t concentrate on one guy.”

Port Washington was unavailable for comment.

Bottom Line: Massapequa defeated Port Washington twice this year by a combined score of 28-11. The Chiefs will take on a Syosset team whom they defeated 8-6 in April. Port Washington was coming off of an overtime win at Calhoun in the first round of the playoffs.

Key Stat: Massapequa had 10 players score at least one goal for the third time this season.
