Massapequa Coast Rolls over East Williston 20-1

They dominate as Juniors win first game of sectional tournament.

The Massapequa Coast Junior Williamsport  team started their quest to win a sectional title Thursday. It wasn't exactly a titanic struggle.

Massapequa Coast took the field with confidence and determination, and they came away with a 20-1 thumping of East Williston.

The first batter of the day, second basemen Nick Breslin hit a long shot down the left field line that was only feet away from clearing the park. Most of the hits after that landed in fair territory.

The hits quickly started to pile up for Massapequa as they hammered down East Williston pitching in the first inning.  They unleashed an amazing 7 hits and drew two walks as they scored eight runs.

The  dominance didn't end there. Massapequa  continued to attack on offense and played stellar defense allowing only one run in the shortened 5 inning game.

Massapequa Coast would score another ten runs in the fifth inning, bringing their tally to 20 and ending the game on the 10 run rule.

Usually it is easy to pick out a star in a baseball game but not here. Every player in the lineup  had an RBI or scored a run. It was a complete team effort that won this game.

Coach Craig Garland was ready for bigger things.

"We want Commack South," he said.  "That is going to be the matchup we are looking forward to."

They'll get them on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in their final round robin game to be played at Otsego Park in Dix Hills.

Massapequa Coast will also continue a rain delayed game on Saturday at 9am at Tanner Park in Copiague. They were leading that game 6-0 in the 5th inning before the game was called.
