Massapequa Football Reaches Semis

Chiefs upend East Meadow, 43-29, in Nassau Conference I quarterfinal.

Massapequa is seeing green once again.

Massapequa football is on to the Nassau Conference I semifinals for the second straight season and a familar foe awaits. The fifth-seeded Chiefs will face rival No. 1 Farmingdale Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium.

The rematch was made possible by a career day from Chiefs quarterback Paul Bentz. The senior threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as Massapequa upset No. 4 East Meadow, 43-29, Newsday reported.

Bentz also threw three touchdowns in a loss to Oceanside.

Massapequa (6-3) avenged its 55-21 playoff loss to East Meadow a year ago. The Chiefs jumped in front 21-0 with a three-touchdown second quarter, but trailed 29-28 early in the fourth.

Bentz hit senior wideout Harry Lowe on a 29-yard touchdown strike to take the lead for good with 6:33 left, according to Newsday.
