Massapequa Football Tops Oceanside, Advances to County Finals

The Massapequa High School football team topped Oceanside 28-20 Saturday to advance to the Nassau County Championship.

Oceanside got off to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter when Tariek Harris threw a touchdown pass, but the Chiefs didn't panic. Nick Capuana ran for a 1-yard TD to cut the lead to three, and a Matt Caracappa to Craig Berge touchdown pass gave Massapequa a 14-10 lead at the half.

The momentum shifted again, as Oceanside scored 10 straight points, but Paul Dilena's 1-yard touchdown run sealed the deal for good. Caracappa and Berge connected one more time to shut the door and send Massapequa to the title game.

The Chiefs will face off against Farmingdale Saturday at 4 p.m. at Hofstra University.
