Massapequa Sports Notebook

The update on the latest of all that is going on with the Chiefs and the playoffs.

It's playoff time and once again, the Massapequa Chiefs have had a successful Fall sports season.  Six of the teams have made the playoffs and we're going to give you a look at all of them. Here's a rundown of Massapequa's post-season.


Football

Coming off a 54-0 win over Hempstead to close out the regular season, the fifth-seed Massapequa football team will travel to Baldwin 3 p.m. Nov. 5 in the first round of Nassau Class A playoffs. The Chiefs(5-3) beat Baldwin (6-2) earlier this season, 28-14.

Boys Soccer

Fifth-seeded Massapequa defeated twelfth-ranked Port Washington, 2-1, in the first round of a Nassau Class AA playoff game. Massapequa (9-3-2) will face (4) Plainview JFK (10-1-3) in a quarterfinal on Nov. 2 at 2:30.

Girls Soccer

Third-seeded Massapequa defeated No. 11 Syosset in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class AA Playoffs. Massapequa will play the winner of No. 7 Baldwin and No. 2 MacArthur in semifinals on Nov. 4 at Denton Avenue Field in New Hyde Park. Massapequa (8-3-5) tied Baldwin, 3-3, in regular season action, but lost to MacArthur, 2-0.

Field Hockey

Top-ranked Massapequa played host to  No. 4 East Meadow and defeated them, 6-1,  in the first round of the Class A semifinals Nov. 1.  Up next for the Chiefs is Port Washington in the finals, noon Nov. 6 at Adelphi.

 

Girls Volleyball

Top-seeded Massapequa defeated Baldwin, 3-0, 25-16, 25-12, 25-8 in the first round of the Conference AA-I volleyball playoffs. Massapequa (12-0) will face the Massapequa host (8) MacArthur, 2 p.m. Nov.5.  The winner will go on to play in the semi-finals 6 p.m. Nov. 4 against the winner of (4) East
Meadow vs. (5) Baldwin.

Boys Volleyball

Top seeded Massapequa is coming off an undefeated regular season and received a bye in the first round of the Class A playoffs. They will face the winner of the match between (8) Oceanside and (9) Herricks on Nov. 5 at Massapequa at 4 p.m.
