Massapequa Linemen Picked for All-Star Football

Sollenne, Turano to play for Long Island in 15th annual Empire Challenge high school football all-star game.

 and Anthony Turano get to play one more high school football game together.

The star linemen were selected to the Long Island squad of the 15th annual United Healthcare Empire Challenge high school football all-star game. 

The top 100 football players from around the Island and New York City were selected to play in the game, which will kick off June 19 at 7 p.m. at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium.

Sollenne, an offensive tackle, and Turano, a guard, are headed to LIU Post.  

The game is the brainchild of former NFL star and East Islip native Boomer Esiason. It benefits the Boomer Esiason Foundation in its fight against cystic fibrosis, contributes to the Gunnar H. Esiason Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hofstra, and supports youth and high school football in the New York metropolitan area.

MSG Varsity will broadcast live coverage of the game in HD (TV-14) and on MSGVarsity.com.

No one has been jailed for the corporate malfeasance that resulted in the financial crash of '08, in spite of the rules that were ignored or broken. Too big to fail is the order of the day. Meanwhile, petty frauds committed by poor and middle class are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Two Americas. The rule of law, unevenly applied, whether by race, or class, or economic station will result in the unraveling of society. We may well be seeing the beginnings of that now, as we've entered a new gilded age, where new robber barons are allowed to run roughshod over the lower classes. The very ideals of America are at stake, and we are letting them slide away.
