Massapequa over Baldwin for first playoff win

Massapequa earns first playoff win

The Massapequa Chiefs put on a solid display of offense and held their opponents to just one touchdown to pull out an impressive win in the Nassau County quarterfinals. The Fifth seeded Chiefs relied on some impressive running to capture the win on the road.

Heroes: Vassili Grigorakos ran in two touchdown while Taylor Bocchiaro added a 67 yard scoring run. But the big run of the day came from Jack Korber.

Turning Point:  an option play from QB Matt Pagano to Korber turned into an incredible 97 yard TD run which put Massapequa up 20-7. That put the game away for Massapequa.

Quotable: "It was a tough game, tougher than the first game," said Massapequa Head coach Kevin Shippos, who has now beaten his alma mater twice this season. " The Bruins were well prepared and they came to play. We had a couple of big turnovers but our boys showed how strong they are mentally and kept pushing for a win. Baldwin is a quality opponent."

Bottom Line: The Chiefs were impressive on both sides of the ball, which should give them confidence heading into the next round.
