Massapequa Runners Finish Strong in Independence Run

Almost two dozen area runners compete.

On a hot, Fourth of July morning, 559 racers turned out from all over Long Island to compete in the annual Bellmore Striders Independence Day Run.

The event included about almost two dozen runners from the Massapequa area.

John Daly, 55, finished 14th with a time of  24:25, while Don Wilburn, 42,  finshed 42nd with a time of  26:50.
