MLS Team Drafts Massapequa Native

Jimmy Nealis, a Massapequa High School graduate who played at Georgetown, was drafted by Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo.

Jimmy Nealis, who scored 33 goals over four years at Massapequa High School, was drafted 37th overall by the Houston Dynamo in Thursday's Major League Soccer entry draft.

Nealis was a starter for all four of his years at Massapequa, where he graduated in 2009. He was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-state player here before he headed to Georgetown University in Washington.

Nealis was state player of the year in 2008.

The defender  was named third-team All-Big East in 2011, when he started in all 18 games he appeared in.

While at Massapequa High, Nealis earned two varsity letters in basketball. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.
