Massapequa Star Signs with Cosmos

Jimmy Nealiis may make NASL debut Saturday.

Former Massapequa High School soccer star Jimmy Nealis will be playing professional soccer for a team close to home. 

The Chiefs and Georgetown University defender has signed with the New York Cosmos.

Nealis,who was a three time all-conference player and two time all-state player, may make his debut for the first place North American Soccer League team on Saturday, a team official said.  THe Cosmos face the Atlanta 

Earlier this year, he was drafted by the Houston Dynamo in the Major League Soccer Superdraft, but he was injured and released by Houston.

The Cosmos signed him after they saw him rehab in New York.

Nealis played in 83 games over four years in Georgetown and scored two goals with 15 assists.
