Photos: Massapequa International Little League Opening Day

It was perfect baseball weather and a great day for fun as the league opened its 56th season.

It was a "Picture Perfect" day for baseball in The Massapequas.

The Massapequa International Little League opened its season on Saturday. There was bright sun and brilliant blue skies to greet players, coaches, and local dignataries.  The parade began at massapequa Park and marched down Park Blvd. and all the way around to

Once everyone arrived, there were short greetings by elected officials and an invocation by Pastor Sterling Edwards of After the singing of the National Anthem and some words by President Mike DiTrani, it was "game on" as the first pitch of the season was thrown.

Afterward, Patch was able to catch up with M.I.L.L.'s President Mike DiTrani. "Opening Day 2011 is our 56th season. The are a lot of memories and a lot of tradition that comes with it. This is a great day for the kids to be out there and just have some fun. Massapequa is a baseball town. Us and [Massapequa]  we'll have some competitive fun come this summer, but for now it's all about giving everyone an opportunity to play. Share baseball is what we're about. Fairness, good sportsmanship & fun for the kids and their families.
