Wild End in World Series

Massapequa International Little Leaguers rallied twice but lost in World Series finale.

The Massapequa International Little League may be headed home winless from the Junior League World Series, but it was not without some standout performances.

Bedford, Ind. scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning and then held on for an 11-9 victory over Massapequa Thursday to send the East champs home 0-4.

JLWS officials termed it "one of the wildest games of the Series." And for good reason. The lead changed hands four times. Massapequa trailed 4-2 and 8-4, but stormed back twice and took a 9-8 lead in the sixth.

But it was not meant to be. Indiana's two-run double in the seventh was the difference.

The East champs, winners of their first state title since 1995, also dropped a 2-1 decision to Arizona on Wednesday.
