The Massapequa-based Theodore Roosevelt Boy Scout Council will be getting a new leader in 2012.
John S. "Jay" Garee has been named the organization's new Scout Executive/CEO.
Garee comes to the Theodore Roosevelt Council from Worcester, Mass., where he served as Scout Executive for the Mohegan Council.
He is an Eagle Scout, a Vigil member of the scouts' honor society, the order of the arrow and has earned the scouts' leadership program's Wood Badge Beads.
The Penn State graduate is married and the father of two.
He will take the position on Jan. 2, replacing David G. Richardson, who is retiring after 37 years in scouting.
