Blood Drive and Rosh Hashanah This Week

Here's what's happening this week in and around the Massapequa area.

For most of us this week marks the end of the summer  season. Massapequa school kids get a reprieve from that for a while, but there is a lot going on.

Here's a look ahead:

Blood Drive: TheBar Harbour Library will host a blood drive from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. For more information call  Lee Gundel  516-798-4607  ext.304.

School District:  Students won't attend class until nest week, but the Massapequa School Disrict will host teacher orientation Tuesday.

Rosh Hashanah: Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashanah, the celebration of the Jewish New Year, which begins at sundown on Wednesday.

TOBAY Beach: Although its after Labor Day. Tobay Beach will be open this weekend on the ocean side for swimming.

Summer Reading Club: THe Central Avenue Library will hold an invitation only event Friday to wrap up their summer reading program. They'll be giving away a Nook E-Reader.
