Haunted House, Barktober Fest, Fall Festival This Weekend

Some events this weekend you might want to check out.

Halloween Haunted House for LI Cares

  • Be Prepared to be Scared, Local Family decorates their house with scary creatures, animation, people staged (weekends only and Halloween night).
  • Opening Saturday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. and will be open through Halloween. Please note that staged people are only on the 19th, 25th, 26th and 31st. You will still be scared on the other days.
  • Bring Non-Perishable Food for Long Island Cares.
Massapequa Pet Vet Barktober Fest
  • Massapequa Pet Vet Animal Hospital will host their annual “Barktoberfest” fundraiser on Sunday from 12-5 p.m. at its facility in Massapequa. All profits will directly benefit three non-profit organizations.  
  • Massapequa Pet Vet's veterinarians and staff invite the public, including their family pets, to stop by and enjoy the “Barktoberfest” activities, which include games, training demos, rescue groups, animal education, a bouncy castle, food, cat adoptions and more.  
  • Prizes will be awarded for both the best pet costume and the best pet trick contests. An auction and raffles provided by local businesses will help to raise funds.
East Meadow Farms Second Annual Fall Festival
  • Cornell University Cooperative Extension Nassau County is holding it'a Second Annual Fall Festival on Oct. 18 - 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Pumpkins, spring bulbs, apples, hot apple cider and fresh donuts.
  • Explore the community gardens, demonstration gardens and enjoy presentations by our experts.
Massapequa Girls Volleyball "Dig Pink" Event
  • The Massapequa Girls Volleyball team will be dedicating a home match on Friday to national breast cancer awareness. Please join us at this great event to support breast cancer research.
  • There will be raffles sold for 50/50 and baskets. MHS Chiefettes and MHS Cheerleaders will be performing. Junior Varsity game at 4:30 p.m. Varsity game at 6:30 p.m. Fans should wear pink to show their support.

Oktoberfest at St. Raphael's Church
  • St. Raphael's Church and Pope Pius XII Council Knights of Columbus present Oktoberfest Saturday, Oct. 19 in the St. Raphael's school auditorium between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m.
  • St. Raphael's is located at 600 Newbridge Rd. in East Meadow.

Massapequa Apple Festival Featuring Live Music by the Banjo Rascals
  • The Historical Society of the Massapequas' Annual Apple Festival will be held at the Massapequa Historical Complex, Old Grace Church, in Massapequa.  
  • Enjoy an old fashioned apple festival featuring Long Island apples, homemade pie, hot dogs, crafts, vendors, raffles, music, Banjo Rascals from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Tours of the historic buildings (Old Grace Church, the Delancey Floyd-Jones Free Library, and the Elbert Floyd Jones Cottage) will also be available.
Christ Lutheran Church Country Fair
  • Light lunch available, home baked items, our famous cookie walk.
  • There will also be costume jewelry, hand-crafted items, craft supplies and a men's table
  • Raffles include gift baskets, a television and use of a condo. The thrift shop will be open.
Wantagh Preservation Society Autumn Yard Sale
  • The Wantagh Preservation Society is looking for Vendors for their "Autumn Community Yard Sale" on Oct. 19th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 20. 
  • The rental fee for a space that includes parking for your car is $35. Merchandise, including old, new items, crafts and antiques can be sold. Please, no food vendors.

Lupus Walk Fundraiser at Eisenhower Park
  • The Lupus Alliance of LI/Queens will be holding the annual FUNdraising charity walk and YOU are invited to participate.  
  • Since 1994, Lupus has been holding the Walk-Along for Lupus, Long Island`s longest running Lupus walk that not only raises money to support research, but also supports the individual with Lupus by providing support groups, educational meetings, financial assistance, resources, kids groups and more.
  • Be a part of this important Charity Fundraiser. The walkers enjoy breakfast, lunch, Team photos, give-a-ways from generous sponsors, live music from The Roadhouse Band, meet Greg-T from Z-100 radio. Warm-up with Laxercise work-out specialist Andrew "Mookie" Alderman and much more! Face painting and balloon animals and tons of fun for kids!
