Summer Festivals Abound Around Massapequa Area

Here's a regional guide to events happening in and around Farmingdale this weekend.

It seems like this weekend has all sorts of outdoor fairs and activities to take part in around the Plainview area. Check out these big local events: 

MASSAPEQUA

Music Under the Stars goes old school with  Lenny Cocco & The Chimes, Tommy Mara & The Crests and Ahirley Alston Reeves, the former lead singer of the Shirelles. They  perform at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa Saturday at 8 p.m.

HICKSVILLE 
(Just Over PLAINVIEW Line) 

Our Lady of Mercy's Family Festival continues Friday and all through the weekend in Hicksville. Admission free. Church is located on South Oyster Bay Road. 

FARMINGDALE: 

St. Kilian’s Players are launching their final weekend of their summer production of "Shrek" and tickets (@ $12) remain available at St. Kilian Rectory through Saturday, from 9 a.m.-9 .p.m., and also at the door. Remaining shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 3 p.m.

GLEN COVE

The St. Rocco’s Feast continues on 3rd Street in Glen Cove from 6-11 p.m Thursday and through the weekend. What you’ll find: Free admission, live entertainment, homemade Italian food, rides, games and crafts. This is a huge annual event.

GARVIES POINT (on GLEN COVE's water front)

Garvies Point Day returns to Glen Cove Saturday with special tours, films and crafts. The event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,  at theGarvies Point Museum and Preserve. There is a special program fee of $5 for adults and children ages 4 and older. 

EAST MEADOW

Eisenhower Park’s Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre will host the Salute to Veterans Concert starring Tony Orlando the USO Liberty Bells on Saturday, August 3rd.  Ceremonies honoring our armed services past and present will begin at 6:45 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.  Admission is free.
