If the allegations against the officer are true, how should he be punished?

The woman who is accusing a Nassau County police officer of having an affair with her, while he should have been on duty, reportedly wants an order of protection against Officer Michael Tedesco. It's the latest twist in the case of the 7th Precinct cop, who allegedly spent time at the home of his girlfriend Tara Obenauer when he should have been patrolling. Alleged Mistress Reportedly Asks for Restraining Order Against Tedesco

Accuser says she's afraid of former officer.

A Massapequa woman who claims a Nassau County Police officer carried on an affair with her, while he was supposed to be on duty, has reportedly asked for an order of protection against the cop. Tara Obenauer, said that Mike Tedesco threatened her after learning of a police investigation of the case, WABC-TV reported. "I'm scared and upset and I would like to get this behind me for myself and for my children," she said. Obenauer said earlier this month that she carried on an affair for months with Tedesco inside her home, when he should have been patrolling. A suspicious neighbor blew the whistle on Tedesco and alerted cops who discovered through a GPS check that he'd been at the home at least 57 times. Tedesco, filed retirement papers and …

Massapequa Wins Nassau Mock Trial Tournament

MHS team beats 44 other schools to win championship.

Some of the finest legal minds in Nassau County can be found at Massapequa High School. We may be jumping the gun a bit, but students at the High School's Mock Trial Team are off to a flying start after they took first place in the Nassau County championship. The students beat out 44 other schools and about 500 other students to take the title. The tournament was sponsored by the Nassau County Bar Association and lawyers and judges volunteered as advisers and trial judges. Massapequa was led by Coach Dan Bachman and volunteer attorney-advisor Brian Draper.  Each team had the chance to participate as both prosecutors or defense attorneys during the tournament and winning teams advanced each round until a champion was declared. Crime Nearby: Child Porn Arrest in Smithtown

Smithtown New York State Police have arrested a Smithtown man who was found with digital photos and videos with underage children performing sexual acts, according to police.Police said Sean Murphy, 27, of Smithtown, was arrested after they received a cyber tip through the Internet Crime Against Children hotline, showing he was in possession of the photos and videos, identified through his computer account. Murphy's home was investigated in May 1 after police obtained a search warrant where an iPhone, several computers and computer storage mediums were searched, and the search from the Computer Crimes Units found photos and files, police said. Crime Report: DWI Arrests and Burglaries

May 1 to May 8.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions. DWI On May 5, Denise Baietto, 49 of  East Northport, was arrested on Beverly Road near Lagoon Boulevard, Massapequa and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. On May 5, William Mark, 51, of Massapequa was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Unqua Road, Massapequa and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. On May 6, Paul Lunz, 38, of Amityville, was arrested on Killians Road near Route 107, Massapequa and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated. Massapequa Cares Members Honored At Village Board Meeting

Selfless volunteers singled out for plastering smiles on military vets' faces.

Massapequa Cares, a community organization that caters to the veterans of the area, was saluted by Massapequa Park Mayor James Altadonna this week for their tireless efforts to help those who served our country. Special recognition was given to Massapequa Cares at the village board meeting for their work at the annual event they held at the Veterans Hospital in Northport this past March, where clothes, treats, and, most importantly, entertainment and fun were provided for the grateful residents there. Let us know what surprised you about Tuesday night's results.

The voting has wrapped up and the work ahead is about to begin. The Massapequa school budget passed by a 64 percent margin while two school board members were elected. Joe was elected for his first term and Board President Maryanne Fisher has been elected for a fourth term. The two candidates endorsed by the Massapequa Committee for Educational and Fiscal Responsibility,  Dianne Sheffield and Joseph Marsh finished third and fourth.
