I have seen boats go aground due to poorly marked channels. I recall one summer a few years ago where 4 teenagers ran aground in a small runabout boat. By the time I was able to tow them into deeper waters they were severely attacked by green flies. Better channel marking would likely have prevented their grounding. Keeping a can of bug spray onboard their boat would have also helped.

Since I use Hicksville Rd to get up to RT135 and I return the same route each and every day it has…Read More to be the Southern State Parkway overpass at Hicksville Rd for me. It backs down traffic to a snails pace. Especially on week days since the town has allowed The Hagedorn Little Village School to move here. On weekends it isn't much better with shopping traffic. For years our public officials have sat on their dairy airs and done very little to improve the situation. There is plenty of property on both sides of the SS PKWY to improve the underpass area. Has anyone been stuck there when a tractor trailer squeaks by at the speed of a turtle blocking both directions? I guess our area didn't have any political clout back when Bob Mosses planed the parkway.
