Weigh in on Spring Playoffs

Three local professional teams have made post-season, which one will go the farthest?

Winter has turned to spring, but a lot of the "Boys of Winter" are still in action locally. That's because two of the area's NHL teams and one NBA team will still be competing in the playoffs once May arrives. The New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils have both made it to the second round of the NHL post-season, while the New York Knicks are in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Alas, Long Island's pro team, the New York Islanders, will have to wait until next year, before they get another crack at the Stanley up. But we want to know what team you think is going to go the farthest. Take our poll below, and let us know in comments, how far you think they will go.

Massapequa hands top-seeded Syosset a 14-8 loss in battle for Nassau Conference I supremacy.

There's still one month remaining in the regular season and no doubt both these teams will reach the playoffs. In terms of measuring sticks, Massapequa is better than expected. Massapequa Boys Lacrosse Tops Syosset

Chiefs explode for five third-quarter goals to down top-seeded Syosset, 14-8.

There was determination in the faces and swagger in the collective step of the Massapequa boys lacrosse team. Clearly the Chiefs had something to prove Thursday on the road against preseason top seed Syosset. The Chiefs showcased relentlessness around the ball and skill finishing off possessions. The end result wasn’t even close.   Massapequa ran past the Braves, 14-8, Thursday in a Nassau Conference I showdown for first place. Senior midfield Dan Muller and sophomore attack Ian Kirby each poured in four goals for the Chiefs (7-1 overall, 4-0). “Everyone was putting us down, saying we were young,” Muller said. “We lost 17 seniors; we lost our whole attack. We just have something to prove. We’re here to win a Nassau County championship.” …
