Marissa is a native Long Islander and will graduate Hofstra University next month with a B.A. in print journalism and minor in philosophy.

She currently interns at Newsday, reporting, writing and blogging health, travel and other stories for the ExploreLI and LI Life sections. She also interned for ACJ Communications, Inc., where she wrote weekly articles for The Massapequa Post, Amityville Record and Beacon. In addition to print experience, Marissa also has a broadcast background. She was a news intern at WABC Radio, serving as a "Man-on-the-Street" reporter and assistant to talk show host Curtis Sliwa. Marissa was also a staff member at WRHU, Radio Hofstra University. She was associate producer and on-air talent for WRHU's morning show, writer and reporter for its evening news broadcast and engineer for its Italian music programs.

Marissa is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Golden Key International Honour Society, Lambda Pi Eta (national honor society for communications) and Phi Sigma Tau (international honor society for philosophy).
